New yoga instructor teaching tip no.1

Hey teacher friends! With 3000+ hours of teaching experience honing my craft and all the time spent leading YTT’s, I thought it was time I start sharing my tips beyond my team. For new teachers and beyond!

👇🏻

Tip One: Be authentically YOU when you teach your classes! Here’s how…

🔹Embrace your uniqueness: 1. Don’t compare yourself to more experienced teachers. Your unique experiences and personality make you special. 2. Find your voice: Skip the fancy yoga jargon if it doesn’t feel natural. Speak in a clear & concise way that reflects your personality. Are you playful or more introspective? Let that authenticity guide you.

🔹Keep it simple: In the beginning, focus on mastering a few key sequences and apply your cueing formula. This will free up more mental space to be present and authentic.

🔹Be present with your students: Make eye contact & smile, learn their names, offer options to meet their individual needs.

🔹Share your story: when it's appropriate! Authenticity often involves vulnerability. Share snippets of your yoga journey, the struggles & growth, and create a deeper connection with your students.

🔹Don’t be afraid to make mistakes: We all do it! If you stumble over your words or forget a pose, just laugh it off and move on. Your students will appreciate your humility.
